Michaela's 4th Birthday

I got the idea for this cake after viewing Jamie's blog. It is perfect for a summer birthday! Of course, after I had already baked the cake Michaela told me that she wanted another Hello Kitty cake this year. I am glad I was able to talk her out of it!! The cake turned out very cute, and was actually easy to make.

Yes, it is really cake. My father in law had to poke it a couple of times, just to make sure.

As soon as the presents arrived, Michaela climbed in to what we call "the birthday seat". She was ready to open presents.

I could not find my candles, so we had to use the tea-lites. Michaela did not seem to mind.

Kaiser Again

Just to catch everyone up to speed with our recent trips to Kaiser: Last month Michaela was sick. Her only symptom was a high fever for over a week. After several trips to Kaiser, the doctor thinks she may have had a kidney infection. (She could not confirm because the lab messed up one of her tests.) She had to give blood and they discovered she was iron deficient. We went back the next day and they drew more blood. We had to go back a few days later and take another blood test. This test showed her iron had increased, but was still low. The Doctor told us to give her low dose iron drops and retest in a couple of weeks.

So today we got in the car and were headed down to Kaiser. After only being in the car for about 1 minute, Michaela said "This is the way to the Doctor. Are we going to the Doctor?" I should have just lied and said that we were not. She started asking tons of questions. "Am I going to get a check up?" "Am I going to get a shot?" "My tummy does not hurt." She eventually asked if she had to give blood. I told her yes. (again I should have lied.) She cried the rest of the trip (about 10 minutes.) I had to carry her into Kaiser, crying and all. We had to wait about 10 minutes before we went back. She cried the whole time. Luckily we had 2 nurses, because this time she started screaming and kicking and tried to jerk her arm away. One of the nurses had to hold it in place. She SCREAMED the entire time.

When we were done, I had to carry her back out to the car... still crying. When we got to the car, she finally calmed down and asked "Can we go to McDonalds now?"

Michaela's Disneyland trip

Michaela has been waiting a long time for her birthday. This year, you get in to Disneyland for free on your birthday (you have to register online first). Morgan and Madison have already gone. (Morgan went with Dale on his birthday and I went with Madison on her birthday.)

On the airplane.

The teacups.

It's a Small World

On the bus back to the airport. Dale told me she sang several verses of "the wheels on the bus." I bet he was very proud.

From what Michaela has told me, she had a great time. I can't believe she is 4.

Morgan's Gold Rush Play

I got a phone call from the school first thing in the morning. I feared something happened to Morgan or Madison and was almost afraid to answer the phone. When I finally answered, I heard a mousy little "Hello, Mommy" on the other end. It was Morgan. She had called to let me know that her play was today at 1:15 in the afternoon. Well, at least she gave me a little notice.

Morgan sang in the chorus. I don't think she knew the play was today either. She forgot to wear her white shirt.
