Movie Night

We just sat down for our family movie night when the cat came running out of the bedroom. She hopped onto the couch and made herself comfortable just in time to watch the movie with us.

When the movie was finished, she hopped down and went about her business. So what movie had her so captivated? The Lion King of course. She must have a thing for Simba.

Happy Birthday Nancy

The girls wanted to help me make Nancy's cake. Their idea of helping is waiting for scraps of fondant to eat.

Summer Fun

Since her sisters have started school, Michaela has started an after lunch routine. She eats a popcicle and then plays outside with her water games. She loves not having her 2 big sisters there to boss her around.

Too Much Homework

Morgan has experience quite a difference from 3rd grade to 4th grade. For example she has a bit more homework to do every day. This day she reached her limit.

I have to admit, she was not feeling well this particular day. The photo opp. was just too good to pass up.

Laurie learns to quilt

I am really excited about the 4 quilts I made. I do not sew, but iI think they turned out great for my first attempt. Our Relief Society is making quilts for blind (and sight impaired) babies. The quilts do not have to be perfect, because the babies can not see them. I thought this would be a great time for me to learn. My friend Carla held my hand all the way through the process. She is a great teacher!!

The quilts are various textures and let the baby explore through touch. I still need to attach the toys to the quilts. I hope they enjoy them.

Pear Time

It is almost time to pick my pears. And not a moment too soon, I don't think the branches can take any more weight. I jumped the gun a couple of weeks ago and picked a bunch that were not quite ripe. They were a bit tart, so I decided to make some pies out of them. I made 3 total and froze 2 of them. The one we ate was quite nice.

The First Day School

I know, I am a little behind in my posts. School started last Monday for Morgan and Madison. Morgan is in 4th grade and will have a bit of challenge this year. She is in a class of 20 GATE kids. The class also consists of 11 kids who had the highest scores on their standardized tests. We discovered how much different 4th grade would be this year, the first week she had at least 2 hours or more a day of homework.

Madison is in 1st grade this year. She really likes her teacher and looks forward to doing her homework. (I wonder when that is going to change?) She also very excited that she finally gets to buy a school lunch every once and a while.
